Palijo

Palijo (Urdu: پلیجو ) is the name of a Sindhi tribe in Sindh, Pakistan.
Palijo is a Sammat tribe. During Talpur dynasty and before, this tribe held lands on the banks of Indus River that area was under official administration of Palijo tribe and was called Palijar'pargana ranging from Choriya Jagir, now in Tando Muhammad Khan District, to Pinyari Phat, in Thatta District.
People of this tribe live mainly in Bannu, Daro, Jungshahi and Mirpur Sakro areas of Thatta District. But some families are settled in Nasarpur in Matiari District, in Sunn at Jamshoro District, in Bangaldero at Larkana District, in Hingorja at Khairpur District, in Norai Tando Muhammad Khan District, Hyderabad and Karachi cities.
Total population of Palijo tribe is about 15,000. The head (Sardar) of this tribe is called Arbab and current head of Palijo tribe is Arbab Abdul Hai Palijo son of late Arbab Noor Muhammad Palijo.
People of this tribe are agriculturists but with the passage of time, have adopted other modes of living and now they are in every walk of life from politics to military.
