Palić Lake

The Palić lake (Palićko jezero/Палићко језеро) is a lake situated 8 km from Subotica, near the town of Palić, in Serbia. It is one of the most beautiful in its region. It covers an area of 3.8 km². The average depth of the lake is 2 m, and there are lots of fish in it.
The origin of the lake remains hidden deep in the past. It is known to have dried up on several occasions, always being refilled. A park was established in 1840 when it was discovered that the lake water and mud on the waste land where winds went wild and the sun beat down on all things living had salubrious properties. The health spa's natural environment was fostered. The Great Park has since been redesigned and additional greenery planted, originally occupying an area of more than 86,000 square meters, today taking up about 190,000 m².
The Palić Lake is considered a protected area and a Park of Nature. The entire coast of the Lake is well arranged and it is some 17 km long. The coast is very attractive for its walking paths, bicycle riding or coach driving paths. The lake is abundant with fishes and this gives to the fishing lovers' ample opportunities for an active holiday.
The mineral water springs have a temperature of 25° Celsius, and the mud of the lake is rich in important mineral substances with curative characteristics. Palić Lake is a spa resort.
Palić lake is the most popular tourist destination in Vojvodina, and the fifth most popular in Serbia. It offers various pleasures to the visitors, which are coming every year in greater number. Palić is ideal place for young people, as well as for older tourists. Definitively, all visitors will find something for themselves.
