From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Palaeoctonus is a genus of phytosaur which includes the species P. appalachianus, aulacodus, cyphodon, dumblianus, and orthodon. The name is derived from Greek (palaios meaning "ancient", -ktonos meaning "killer"). It belongs to the higher group Thecodontia. The genus is believed to have flourished during the Upper (Late) Triassic period.
The genus is considered to be a non-dinosaur under most classification schemes (See [1] for a reference)
