Palaeobatrachus ('ancient frog') was a primitive frog from the Tertiary period. It was about 10 cm (4 in) long.
Many well-preserved Palaeobatrachus fossils are known from Tertiary stone layers in Europe and North America; even tadpoles have been preserved. It is thought to have resembled the African clawed frog in appearance and behavior.
