Pakaur is a city and a municipality in Pakaur district in the Indian state of Jharkhand.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Pakaur had a population of 36,014. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Pakaur has an average literacy rate of 61%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 67%, and female literacy is 55%. In Pakaur, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.
