Painting It Red

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Painting It Red is the eighth album released by The Beautiful South in October 2000. The album is the band's joint longest, with 19 tracks. The bonus version contains 20 tracks (includes "White Teeth"), and sometimes comes in the format of two discs, while the American release offers only 17 tracks.

The album made it to number 2 in the charts, but despite the number of tracks, only two singles were produced: "Closer Than Most," which reached number 22 in September, and the double a-side "The River / Just Checkin'" which reached number 59 in December. Many blame this on a bad choice of release; "The River" is, in many people's opinion, arguably one of the weaker songs on the album, and many believe it was released because of how moving it sounded on the tour.
