Paganica

Paganica is a frazione (hamlet) of the municipality of L'Aquila, in the Abruzzo region of southern Italy. It is located c. 7 km away from it, and has a population of some 7,000 inhabitants.

An old Roman city, in 1254 its citizen took part in the foundation of L'Aquila by Manfred of Sicily.

  • Sanctuary of Madonna d'Appari (14th century), built directly on the rock and characterized by precious frescoes from later centuries.
  • The Romanesque Basilica of San Giustino (8th-12th centuries)
  • Church of Santa Maria Assunta, of Frank-Lombard origin, rebuilt in the 17th century. The façade is from 1655.
  • The Ducal Palace and the Gothic House (14th century) in the nearby.
