Pacific Graduate School of Psychology

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pacific Graduate School of Psychology is a free standing graduate-only educational institute offering a PhD program in clinical psychology, located in Palo Alto, California.

The PGSP was founded in 1975 and has been accredited by the APA since 1988. The school is somewhat unusual insofar as it is a smaller educational institution that offers a PhD rather than a PsyD program, as PsyD programs are more practitioner oriented and generally require no dissertation, and therefore are less demanding of the resources of a smaller institution because of the diminished research component. PGSP does, however offer a PsyD in conjunction with Stanford University's medical school(also located in Palo Alto), operating as the PGSP – Stanford Psy.D. Consortium Program.

PGSP is not affiliated with the similarly named Pacifica Graduate Institute, located in Carpenteria.
