Pacific Air Lines

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pacific Air Lines was a local service airline linking smaller communities in California and Oregon with hub cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland. Founded as Southwest Airways, the company began scheduled service in 1946. The company name was changed to Pacific in 1958. Pacific was the lead carrier in a three-way merger with Bonanza Air Lines and West Coast Airlines to form Air West in 1968. Air West, later Hughes Airwest, merged into Republic Airlines in 1980. At the time of the Air West merger, Pacific's fleet included Boeing 727 and Fokker F-27 aircraft.
