PacifiCare Health Systems (former NYSE: PHS) was a Fortune 500 healthcare company based in Cypress, California.

PacifiCare has more than 3 million health plan members and approximately 9 million specialty plan members nationwide. PacifiCare offers individuals, employers and Medicare beneficiaries a variety of consumer-driven health care and life insurance products.

They had 7,500 employees nationwide when they were acquired in late 2005 by UnitedHealth (NYSE: UNH)
