Pacentro is a comune of the province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo, Italy. It is a medieval village located in the central-south of Italy and it has recently been elected by a Commitee "Uno dei borghi più belli d'Italia" (one of the most beautiful villages in Italy).
Pacentro is most known for being the village of origin of world-famous entertainer Madonna's family.
Pacentro is built into the appenini moutains. In the streets of Pacentro, natural spring water flows out of fountains continuously. The water always seems to be very refreshing.
One of the restaurants to eat at is the Caldora. It has some great tasting food as well as some very good wine collections. The main place to go at night is to one of the bars called the Fernacella. From the bars balcony, it has an excellent view of Pacentro.
Many descandants of Pacentro immigrated to the United States and around the world. Strong bonds and ties remain for the beautiful town and social clubs exist in many places, including Club Pacentro of Detroit, a vibrant community of Italian-Americans hailing originally from Pacentro.
