[edit] History of Argentina and Talk:National Reorganization Process
Hi Pablo! Nice work at translating Noche de los Lapices! I didn't do it now, I'm a bit in a hurry, but maybe adding the ages of the high school students would be useful? Else, I've left a comment proposing to rename National Reorganization Process, your opinion is of course needed! Que te vaya bien, saludos! Tazmaniacs 12:43, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Hype about Hydrogen
Thanks for your comment on the talk page today. I feel that Potomacfever is attacking me for some reason, perhaps because he has political disagreements with the book and its author, who happens to be a friend of mine. I did not write the article on this book, but since I saw it, I have tried to improve it. And as for Romm's bio, I merely split it out of the Hype article and then expanded it with online sources. Today Potomacfever put the author's bio up for AfD. I would value your input to the article itself and also to the Afd for Joseph J. Romm. This whole issue needs more editors to get involved and resolve it. Regards, -- Ssilvers 23:45, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
- Should this go back in the article?: The book states, "Neither government policy nor business investment should be based on the belief that hydrogen cars will have meaningful commercial success in the near or medium term." I think that's the core of Romm's thesis. If you agree, please put it where you think best. I am trying to minimize my edits on the article, because of the accusations by Potomac. Thanks! -- Ssilvers 21:56, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandal on Néstor Kirchner
Greetings. I'm looking at the history of vandalism on this article. Can you help me here: look at [1] (if you get this message within the next couple hours), and check all the accounts created between about 17:15 and 17:30 on 21 September. That's when the vandal was making most of his throwaway accounts. I've blocked one more obvious one (KingofAr) but maybe you will recognize some more. There is also a similar vandalism spree (which you may have noticed) on the Spanish wiki. Cheers, Antandrus (talk) 01:28, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- That's because they are "aged" sockpuppets (he created them on 21 Sept) -- which is long enough to bypass sprotection. This is why it would be good to shoot them out of the user creation log. We also could request a checkuser on this. Thanks for your excellent work! Antandrus (talk) 01:31, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your contribution in The Quran and science article. Please spend some more time on the article and try to improve it. I am trying my best but have limited time. --- ابراهيم 17:26, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi, Can you please add from there in the Big Bang section. I really need to sleep. In case you do not find time to do that then I will try to do it tomorrow. Thanking you in anticipation. --- ابراهيم 22:55, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
I think things are getting a bit out of hand at the Quran and Science article, Arrow740 is being pretty insulting. I am still too new to know exactly how to handle it, though I did put a note of the WP:Civil policy on the talk page, if that was not my place please let me know. Ratherhaveaheart
I'm sorry, but saying that "a drop of semen" and "a single sperm cell" are the same thing gets me angry. Any "insults" I made were, from my perspective, true observations. Anyway I think you've been something of a moderating influence on that article, though it looks like you don't care about it enough to keep it fair, or else when I came across it yesterday it wouldn't have been the poorly written, badly spelled list of half-truths that it was. [edit] Please Guide
Is that possible that they delete the article now and then I work on my User space. I will try to give all the references and making it as best as possible. I will fairly also try to give other side views with references (you and other neutral people are also welcome to contribute). Once we are done than we could move it back? Is that possible ? --- ابراهيم 08:28, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- After The Quran and science was saved Ibrahimfaisal removed all my additions, so I renominated it for deletion. Could you weigh in? Arrow740 21:31, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] re: The Quran and science article
hello Pablo-flores, i know some time ago on the talk page you said you weren't going to bother with the article because of the state of affairs at that time. i do however believe your contributions would be extremely useful and i do think that we can move forward as long as the editors concentrate on working together instead of against each other. there are a number of reasonable editors popping up who seem to be interested in making something of this article, and as long as you are still interested i would definitely recommend you help contribute wherever you can. thank you. ITAQALLAH 22:49, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- hello, there is a dispute on Talk:The Quran and science about how WP:V is to be interpreted regarding published Muslim sources to present Muslim opinion. i thought it'd be useful to ask a more seasoned user to provide their thoughts, so so your comments on that matter would be greatly appreciated. Not to defend people hiding behind IP addresses, but "the Argentine" used to be a perfectly normal way of referring to Argentina. Try, for instance, to google "The Argentine" and definition. I think it was probably due to the influence of French. -Yupik 09:14, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Greetings and dulce de leche
Hey there, I'm Gustavo and I want to introduce myself and to collaborate in this beautiful project. I'm Uruguayan but I'm currently living in Spain, country where I'm studying to major in English. I hope we can keep in touch and help each other with language. By the way, "dulce de leche", as you mentioned it in your user page, is not Argentinian but Uruguayan as well, so I would rather use the word River Plate... You will see, there are several theories on the subject and you may have your opinions which do not prove to be fully considered as true or reliable evidence. Indeed, we should take into account the fact that Uruguay and Argentina were and still are countries with a similar history, more or less the same kind of culture and customs and, what is more, we both speak "Rioplatense Spanish", perhaps that being the reason why here, in Europe, people tend to associate Uruguay with Argentina and viceversa. They don't see the difference, then, I say, should we? It's not my aim to argue about something irrelevant but I thought we, as River Plate brothers, must take conscience of this fact and stop with that rivalry. Nice to meet you and I hope we can be friends. Sorry for expressing my point of view, lol. Regards, --Gustave - May I help you? 23:58, 29 October 2006 (UTC) PS: If you don't mind I'll put this in the discussion page of "dulce de leche".
[edit] Uruguayan newspapers
I've read in the cellulose conflict talk page that you were looking for more websites of Uruguayan newspapers. Here you have some of them: the websites of the best-seller dairy newspapers are La República (left-wing, socialist or sort of, usually supports the current administration), El País (liberal conservative, linked with the Herrerismo, Partido Nacional), El Observador (conservative, linked with the Catholich Church) and Últimas Noticias (n idea on what ideology it supports, linked with the Unification Church), while some of the weekly newspapers are La Juventud (radical left, linked with the 26 de Marzo, Frante Amplio), Crónicas (liberal conservative, probably linked with the Illuminati), Brecha (democratic socialist, independent) and Búsqueda (social democratic and/or social liberal, independent, no current website).
I hope this is useful to you :) -- NaBUru38 00:15, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Railways in Argentina
Saludos y gracias. --200.85.115.19 02:57, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Naming conventions
Pablonque, I know it was not a written rule, but so far cities had the format Name, Province except for the capitals which had Name, Argentina (Mendoza, Argentina, La Rioja, Argentina, Formosa, Argentina, Córdoba, Argentina, etc.) This is specially helpfull for ambiguities with other important cities in countries ( La Rioja, Spain, Córdoba, Spain).
Even though it's true that there are other cities that collide with foreign cities, having a Citiy, Province collision with another country would be quite weird, and (usually) only the capital city has the same name that its subdivision.
BTW, Tobias have been moving a lot of pages in a way I don't agree. Mendoza, Viedma and several other should point to the city, and a proper City (disambiguiation) article should be made available. See for instance the useless Resistencia. Mariano(t/c) 10:24, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
- I kinda had it with discussions, and I really don't care that much about the naming. Do as you see fit. BTW, I going home in 3 weeks, this time for a year or so! Mariano(t/c) 07:53, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Argentinidad

[edit] Dict
Hiya, fellow language-lover. I've only now found out about your Argie slang dictionary. As a contributor to the Spanish Wiktionary, I'd be glad to be able to lift some of your stuff for our own use. I suppose you wouldn't object, but the license you've chosen (cc-by-nc-nd) utterly precludes any sort of wiki usage. How would you feel about dual-licensing it under the GFDL? It would speed thing up a bit if I ever got around to writing a parser for easy formatting.
Drop me a line when RL allows for this superfluous stuff. Best, Taragüí @ 18:36, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- BTW: You're missing a football-related definition for "caño" (a pass delivered through the opposing defense's legs). And I'd venture that "sarpar" is, in fact, but a semantic extension of "zarpar" (departing, as it were, from the established norm). But I have no recollection of seeing it in any published sources. Taragüí @ 18:45, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- We're not so pedantic as regards sources over there at the wikt. If accompanied with a solid, real-life example of language in use, things pass muster without an Academy to vouch for them. And I'm certain I'll be able to document most, if not all, of your stuff with Clarin.com and Página/12 quotations, my favourite source nowadays.
- CC-BY is indeed much better for reuse. I'll simply state in the history that the entries are so licensed, so that anyone willing not to undergo the additional pains the GFDL imposes may choose to do so. Thanks a lot for the support. Best, Taragüí @ 21:56, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Menem
Hello. Just a quick question on phrasing: when we say things like "Menem cut the military budget" or "Menem abolished conscription", do we actually mean "Menem signed (and maybe advocated) legislation doing these things"? Presumably the Congress has a role too. Biruitorul 06:43, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
- Congress has never been independent, least of all under a Peronist president, ever. What Menem didn't want, Congress didn't pass, and conversely, what Menem wanted, the Congress always gave (the opposition either sheepishly agreed, or was outnumbered). But yes, you make a valid point; we should find references that indicate which measures were passed as presidential decrees, which were sent to Congress by the Executive, and which were original Congress initiatives. —Pablo D. Flores (Talk) 19:50, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Deleted link in Spanish_Language
hey, just a quick question.
I added my link to the Spanish language wiki after not hearing anything about it in the talk section. In the history of the Spanish language page, you mention it is for being a tips based site. I can understand that a lot of people must try to spam wiki, but I don't think I'm doing that at all.
My site is tips based (just like wiki) because I want to help anyone learn Spanish. It is a free site, but if someone wants to help me out (Hosting isn't free) I'm more than happy to take their money to improve the quality of the site.
Just wondering what it would take to put the link back on the page?
Cheers, Sean —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 58.107.172.115 (talk) 12:48, 9 December 2006 (UTC).
hey Pablo,
Looks like it's a matter of understanding what wiki is all about and I'm certainly not an expert on that. It seemed logical to me that wiki would want to link to quality sites to help the readers, but if that isn't the case, then I stand corrected. I'm not sure if I have a case, but I am dedicated to building the best free learn Spanish site around. I've looked at a lot of the top rankers in the search engines and I'm not really impressed. A link from wiki would help me in that endevour, but if it is not to be, then it is not to be. I'll have a think and might see if I can make a case by starting a topic in the talk section. Some corrections of Roo72 statements:
- Your warning for IP: User talk:217.98.20.20 was for other internet user and article - this is IP number of large Internet provider and can be used by hundreds of users. Roo72 used this confusing situation for his own private interest
- the article is locked on his obviously POVED version - with accusation of fascism of democraticaly elected president and prime minister of european country without any single proof attached.
- The user is known for his political edits - (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Roo72)
- and last but not least there is no revert war (as he has writen) because only his (Roo72) edits was the reverts - other edits introduced new facts or corrected the article.
