Pablo Bengoechea

Pablo Javier Bengoechea is a soccer player of Uruguay, born June 27 of 1965 in Rivera. A player of exquisite technique and enormous temperament, he became the captain of C.A. Peñarol and the Uruguay national football team.
Starting at the Oriental Atlético Club of Rivera, he later played for Montevideo Wanderers, Sevilla FC of Spain, Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata and C.A. Peñarol. He is known by the nicknames of “the Professor”, “the Ten” and “Pablo”. An outstanding player in the 1990's, he was a player of Uruguay from 1987 to 1998. He played in the Copa Americas of 1987 and 1995, and the 1990 FIFA World Cup. He scored in the final of both the 1987 and 1995 Copa Américas, as Uruguay won the titles against Chile and Brazil.

Pablo Bengoechea also helped his that his home team Peñarol conquered the second quinquennium of gold, winning the seasons of 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997.
