P-y method

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The p-y method is an analysis of laterally-loaded piles that relies on the use of multiple non-linear springs along the shaft of the pile. The unit force p is related to the lateral displacement y through:

p = ky

where k is non-linear. The relationship above is often given as a non-linear curve or equation between p and y.
