Páidí Ó Sé is an All-Ireland winning Gaelic football player and manager for Clare.
Born in Ventry, Ó Sé played for the Kerry senior football team in the 1970s and 1980s. Though small in stature, he had a strong physique and was famous for his defensive play. He is one of five Kerry footballers to share the record of eight All-Ireland senior football medals in 1975, 1978-1981 and 1984-1986. He was also on the teams defeated in the finals of 1976 and 1982. Ó Sé was also the recipient of five GAA All Stars Awards from 1981 to 1985. He won National Football League medals and Railway Cup medals with the Munster team.
He managed the Kerry senior team for several years, being successful in winning the all Ireland football championship in 1997 and 2000. He managed the Kerry team for eight years, which ended with a very disappointing year in 2003.[1] He went on to coach the Westmeath senior team and Westmeath won their first Leinster title in 2004.
He is the owner of a successful bar/restaurant in Ventry.[2] He has three nephews that have also played in Irish Senior Football League; Darragh, Tomás, and Marc Ó Sé. Tomás and Darragh Ó Sé have both been on the All Star teams and have had much success in recent years. Ó Sé has been linked to the vacant position as Kerry senior football manager.[3]
