Oxford United Stars F.C. is a Northern Ireland football club, based in Derry. They currently compete in the Irish Second Division. The club should not be confused with the English club Oxford United F.C. They are however, known as the U2's in reference to Oxford United's nickname 'The U's'. The club graduated to the second division of the Irish League after competing in local amateur leagues, including the Derry and District League, which the reserve team, Oxford United, now plays in. The squad now includes a number of youth players who have played in the Foyle Cup and the Milk Cup, these being Adam Clarke and Colm McKay. Danny Lafferty, a former Oxford player, signed with Scottish giants Celtic in 2006. He had been closely watched since his youth at Oxford and after his stunning performances in the 2005 Foyle Cup with the Derry and District League Select, he confirmed his ability, thus signing a professional contract.
