Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies

The Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, founded in 1997, is an independent academy for the study of Hindu culture, religion, languages, literature, philosophy, history, arts and society. The Centre is a Recognised Independent Centre of Oxford University.
The main goal of the Centre is to develop excellent academic programmes of scholarship, research and publishing in the field of Hindu studies. Another aim is to inspire the Hindu community with new perspectives and confidence and further enable their contribution in philosophy, education and culture.

The Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies is dedicated to preserving India’s cultural heritage and promoting a better understanding of it through a comprehensive programme of education, publishing and research. OCHS, as a Recognised Independent Centre of Oxford University strives to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and excellence.
OCHS Past Since its inception the Centre has attracted worldclass scholars and students, launched pioneering educational projects and opened up the field of Hindu Studies for a wider audience.
OCHS Present Today the OCHS works with Oxford University to provide comprehensive academic programmes including lectures, seminars, conferences, a book series, a journal, community education, online study courses and web resources for all those with an interest in Indian culture. It is devoted to understanding Hindu traditions from every perspective.
OCHS Future OCHS is at the forefront of an international renaissance in Hindu Studies, continually expanding its vision and its ability to serve all communities and generations. In order to provide the best resources and facilities for a bright educational future for gifted scholars, OCHS is committed to developing lectureships and scholarships, innovative research, preservation projects and expanding its publishing programmes.
