Owen Byrne

Owen John Byrne (born 1960-07-10 in Ireland; better known as Owen Byrne) is best known as co-founder of Digg where he currently works as the senior software engineer. He attended Loyola High School in Montreal, Quebec. After high school he went to Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he graduted with a B.A. in English and a B.S of computer science. He then gained a MBA from Dalhousie University in Halifax. He currently holds an unfinished PH.D. from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

During high school Owen was a contestant in Reach for the Top, which is a Canadian game show where high school students participate in trivia tournaments.
Owen also worked for a newspaper, titled Chronicle-Herald, in Halifax, Canada before jumping into the dotcom pool.
Owen has had many employers such as Motorola and Comptetiveness. He also worked some time freelance, which included Chronicle-Herald, along with Kevin Rose and other former TechTV (now G4TV) employees via the website ELance.com during this period of freelance work.
Owen has lived in 6 countries including Ireland, Canada, Pakistan, Spain, England and he currently resides in The United States of America.
