[edit] Gutting the article

Wikipedia is not a set of instructions of how to play a board game, nor is it a strategy guide. I am therefore going to remove a lot of this article. I know this is a bold move, but the stuff that should be put back in can be, whilst the stuff that should stay out can stay out. If anyone else disagrees, let's bring our disagreements her to Talk, ok?

Oh, and one other thing. What does "Difficulty: easy-hard" mean? I have changed it to medium. Batmanand | Talk 09:56, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Doesn't FAO Shwartz sell a Monopoly Set For $100,000? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.208.146.231 (talk • contribs) .

On the other hand, the article Monopoly (game) includes sections on rules/game play and strategy, and it's hardly unique; the chess article includes similar sections, along with the separate article chess strategy and tactics. I think some explanation of game play is necessary in order for more detail on strategy to make sense. MisfitToys 19:48, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
Not only does Chess have its own strategy article, but also its own rules article. The Scrabble article also contains detailed sections on gameplay and strategy. However, regardless of how much content on rules and strategy should be in this article, its current state requires revision; it is a bit lopsided, explaining some elements in great detail while omiting others. A generalized overview would be more helpful than an article that explains some but not all of the elements in full detail.
Now that I consider, "easy-hard" really does sound weird... I got this from the Monopoly article, and I think I'll go change that now.  ;) Dar-Ape (talk) 21:46, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
Unless someone objects, I am going to reinclude the deleted content in accordance with the very detailed rules and strategy present in many other game articles, including Chess (strategy, rules), Scrabble, Monopoly, Connect Four, Hearts, etc. Dar-Ape 00:19, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

I agree with the removal of the section on the strategy. Chess strategy and board game strategy are not exactly the same are they?68.101.14.49 00:04, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Several of the games with detailed strategy sections that I cited are board games. (An additional note: I did not just "tack on" this part; it is drawn from a section in the game's rulebook.) Dar-Ape 02:32, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
A week has passed, so I am reincluding the deleted content per the reasons above; the only oppose was addressed. Dar-Ape 21:16, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
