Outside (David Bowie song)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Outside" is a song written by David Bowie and Kevin Armstrong in 1995 and the title track (Track 2) for his album Outside. An early version of the song, called "Now", was written in 1988 after Never Let Me Down but before Tin Machine. The song is 4:04 minutes long. The first 50 seconds is a techno musical piece, then goes into the actual songs introduction, then Bowie starts singing at 1:08 minutes. The piece of music up to 50 seconds is largely unrelated to the rest of the piece. The piece is techno and follows the albums theme of having a rather freakish and abrasive sound, while still pleasing to the ear.

[edit] Lyrics

Now. Not tomorrow. Yesterday Not tomorrow

It happens today The damage today They fall on today They beat on the outside And I'll stand by you

Now. Not tomorrow It's happening now Not tomorrow

It's happening now The crazed in the hot-zone The mental and diva's hands The fisting of life To the music outside To the music outside

It happens outside The music is outside It's happening outside The music is outside It's happening now Not tomorrow Yesterday Not tomorrow

The music is outside It's happening outside The music is outside The music is outside Outside Outside Outside
