From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary is the second seminary of the recently established Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter. The seminary was canonically established in 1988 by Pope John Paul II in accordance with his letter of Ecclesia Dei Adflicta and opened in 2000. The seminary is located in Denton, Nebraska near Lincoln. Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary was founded to primarily serve English speaking seminarians for the society from North America, providing traditionalist Catholic education.
Seminarians are future Catholic priests who receive training in the ancient Tridentine liturgy in Latin form as it existed in 1962 prior to the Second Vatican Council. Chant is considered an integral part of the education received. The seminary also offers vocational retreats two to three times annually for those interested in considering priesthood. Admission is limited to males in accordance with Catholic tradition.
The first phase of the seminary complex was designed by Thomas Gordon Smith Architects in a Romanesque style and completed in 2000. Seminarians live in the dormitory wing.
The current Seminary Rector is Father Josef Bisig of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter.
