Otis Ferguson

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Otis Ferguson was a film critic for the magazine The New Republic. While he published many highly regarded film reviews, he remains most famous (and perhaps notorious) for his panning of the film classic The Wizard of Oz, upon its original 1939 release. He wrote: "It has dwarfs, music, Technicolor, freak characters, and Judy Garland. It can't be expected to have a sense of humor as well."
