Otilio Galíndez is a venezuelan composer born in Yaritagua, Yaracuy, December 13, 1935. Since short age he demonstrated musical inclinations, supported by his mother in the song and the poetry, in 1957, he was transferred to Caracas, and worked in the Central University of Venezuela, forming part of the University choir, with teachers like: Antonio Estévez, Inocente Carreño and Modesta Bor, experience that motivated his musical creation. One stood out quickly like composer of fine music vein. In the compositions of Otilio Galíndez, predominate the christmas songs, his first composition was La Restinga, a Folk Christmas song, also have composed waltzes, serenades, bambucos and joropos, like: Pueblos Tristes, Flor de Mayo, Mi Tripón, and many others, his works have been interpreted by the most known popular Venezuelans singers and by recognized figures of Latin America, as Silvio Rodriguez, Pablo Milanés and Mercedes Sosa. He resides in Maracay since 1974.
