This is an award for people who do a considerable amount either
(a) to promote Wikipedia beyond the site, acting as "unofficial spokesperson" for it; or
(b) who do wonders in "gee-ing up the troops" either through their general motivation of Wikipedians or through assistance by way of tools, contests, and other things that actually make us 'ground troops' want to go out and write, improve, and wikify - in both cases basically people who help move Wikipedia forward.
This medal was introduced in February 2005 and designed by brian0918.

Often you see people doing great things around Wikipedia. Sometimes you are lazy and forget to thank people for what they are doing. Sometimes you are not lazy and do thank the person, either on an article talk page, or on their user page. Sometimes, when you're really excited, you might want lots of people to know about the good work you've seen. This page is your place to do that. |
