Oscar Madison

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oscar Madison is a character in The Odd Couple, which began as a Broadway play, then was a movie, then a very successful television series, and then returned to Broadway.

In The Odd Couple, Oscar Madison (played by Jack Klugman in the TV series, Walter Matthau in the play and film) is the everyman, and is a sports columnist for the New York Herald, which makes him a semi-celebrity, which allowed him to appear on TV with several celebrities.A compulsive slob, he has an odd, quirky relationship with a neurotic fellow named Felix Unger (played by Tony Randall in the TV series, Jack Lemmon in the film). Their friendship is odd at best, and the contrasting personalities combined with living together in close quarters provided for some very funny plot lines.
