Osório Duque-Estrada
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Joaquim Osório Duque-Estrada (1870-1927) is a poet, historian, and dramatist from Brazil. He was a member of the Academia Brasileira de Letras. He is perhaps best remembered for writing the lyrics to the current Brazilian national anthem.[1] It was based on a poem he wrote in 1909 and was adopted in 1922. As an erudite writer his lyrics to the anthem have at times been criticized as hard to understand.[2]
