[edit] Help needed

co-post on top of cat page
  1. How about a quick category purpose statement, sone discussion on the talk (here) on what to do when one finds oneself to this category which has a name which signifies what???
  2. Or what should I get excited about now too?
  3. This is embedded on main page too: !--- User: fabartus 15 August 2006, wondering whether I should clear a template now that the article is linked or not!
  4. Harumph! Are we supposed to have infinite time, that all of us are expected to be involved in whatever project owns this cat (why isn't that, at least, listed? e.g. Category:Fantasy part of WikiProject Fictional series, WikiProject Novels, AND WikiProject Books as can be seen at page bottom), or are we supposed to be clarvoyant and just somehow know the do's and do nots involved or where to look for same?
  5. Not! Give us a break here! An informed editor can help your project, but failing to annote your needs means 'next problem', and more work for YOU!
  6. So, if you want informed help, leave some informed hints!

[edit] ==Namcon violation?==

Strikes me that the Naming Conventions signify that administrative categories like this need to be prefixed by 'Wikipedia'. re: Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(categories)#Special_conventions_for_some_Wikipedia-related_categories// FrankB 02:08, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

See Wikipedia:Orphan I guess. No project really owns this category. I guess I "run" it, but most de-orphaning is done editors of the articles and so on, as well as various maintenence patrollers like myself. De-orphaning articles has traditionally been a pretty solitary task, and there is a Wikiproject of sorts at Wikipedia:Orphaned articles but it's not very active. So I don't know... this category suits my long-term project and no one's really complained... there's info on that at User:MarshBot I'll work on making the category itself more useful. If you want to propose renaming formally, go for it. Thanks for your comments. --W.marsh 02:22, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
You might include Category:Articles that need to be wikified in the remaining request too. This category is largely based on that one. --W.marsh 02:32, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Category?

Please provide thoughts or directions on if categories count as links. A page that is in several categories does have good links to it from several wiki points, even if it is not mentioned in another article. Jeepday 04:00, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
