[edit] Possible updates to article

  • I'm sorry, but whatever the websites list him as, there is simply no way that Orlando Bloom is 5'11. Brad Pitt is about two inches taller than him on the red carpet, and is also listed as 5'11. Also, compare him in PoTC to costars Keira Knightley (5'7) and Johnny Depp. (5'8"-5'9") I know it's not a big deal, but for the sake of accuracy, I thought I should mention it.
  • Possibly relevant to the above, this page could be a major lead-in for new Wikipedians, and as such is probably a candidate for expansion - probably needs at least one image too. See What Google Likes. Opinions? I'm going to list this on Requested articles akaDruid 14:02, 23 Feb 2004 (UTC)
  • He didn't have a "major role" in Black Hawk Down
  • "countless accusations of homosexuality"??
    • countless? I haven't heard any
    • accusations?? since when is homosexuality a crime? let's leave the bias aside shall we

how would you rephrase this?

      • There have been many online rumors about his sexuality and speculation on his strange relationship with Kate Bosworth. Ted Casablanca has referenced Orlando in his gossip column many times calling him a gaybe and has alluded that Kate is just Orlando's girlfriend for PR purposes only. It is also believed by some circles that Orlando is the subject of Ted's blind items Gussy and Fussy and Toothy tile.

Mr. Bloom is described as a "jewish English actor." First, "Jewish" should be capitalized if it is to be used at all. Additionally, "[a]ccording to Jewish law, someone is considered to be a Jew if he or she was born of a Jewish mother or converted in accord with Jewish Law[[1]]," and it was Bloom's non-biological father who is mentioned as being Jewish; no mention is made of the religion of his mother nor of his biological father. Finally, the article states that "Bloom has said that he uses the philosophies of Nichiren Buddhism in 2004, a religion that he has long associated himself with and is a full member of SGI-UK," which would likely negate his status as a Jew altogether. And he is very well dressed and hot.

Please note that I'm a newbie to Wiki editing, so I hope that I've done this correctly. If not, please be gentle in correcting me.  ;-)

Buddhism is a religion yes but it was origionally created as a school of thought, like a code or philosophy. I follow the twelve rules of Chuck Norris but that does not make Chuck Norris worship my religion. also the article on SGI seems more similar to a philisophical school of thought then a religion, like Stoicism. i might be wrong but still i'm note sure he's officially a buddistTechnobabble1 18:25, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] POV issues

This:

"Although the two movies in which Orlando had starring roles in 2005 Kingdom of Heaven and Elizabethtown were box office and critical flops, his acting is nonetheless in excellent form. Bloom should certainly blossom in 2006 and 2007, when Pirates of the Carribean 2 and 3 will be released in back to back summers."

only contains two factual statements: that KoH and Elizabethtown bombed at the box office, and that PotC 2 and 3 will be released in 2006 and 2007. One of the many criticisms leveled at KoH was the charge that Bloom was simply not a strong enough actor to carry a film of that scope. Discussions of Bloom's acting in Pirates 2 & 3 are complete speculation until the movies are released. Given that Bloom appears in the trailer for about 5 seconds--as opposed to Jonny Depp, who is clearly being pushed as the star--it's entirely possible that Bloom won't have a chance to do much. nmw 07:40, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Soka Gakkai Membership

The section identifying Orlando Bloom as a member of Soka Gakkai International was removed without comment from the "Personal Life" section. I wonder why this was done. Mr. Bloom is openly an SGI member. I understand that SGI is a controversial group, but membership of other stars in other controversial groups (e.g. Tom Cruise and John Travolta - Scientology, Madonna - Kabbalah)is not subject to unilateral deletion. If Mr. Bloom chooses to make his religious affiliation part of his public personality, I do not understand why it cannot be included in his bio. Oh, and for the record, I am not an SGI member.

[edit] Trivia

The car accident part in the trivia section is clearly biased and almost word to word from the article that it links to, which in turn is clearly a gossip site. I'm not saying that the text should be removed entirely, but maybe someone could rephrase it more carefully, maybe with help from other sources, if there are any. --83.100.41.232 19:58, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Highest grossing actor

Someone just added that. Although I don't have time to do the research now (will do soon), I'd imagine that Daniel Radcliffe is in fact the highest grossing actor, simply because all four of his film as a lead cleared $200m. Mad Jack O'Lantern 22:58, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Picture change

I think we should change the picture of the article because it doesn't really show what Orlando looks like.

Why was the photo removed?

I think the photo should be changed again. It's pretty awful.

[edit] ky home

I think the current description of horse farm investment is MUCH more accurate. He did not move there. Big difference in vacation home / horse property, and primary residence.

[edit] Filmography

What's wrong with the filmography template? I'm not qualified enough to fix it, but it's obviously broken... CelebHeights 15:58, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] le film: "Kingdom of Heaven"

c'est un film fantastique! quant à Orlando, il avait les cheveux lachés! ça lui va bien! il est mignon comme ça! il peut continuer à avoir les cheveux lachés!

[edit] Height issue again

Hey I am a newcomer to all of this! Anyway on one of the LOTR Special Extended Edition documentaries you can see Orlando standing next to and talking to Liv Tyler and he definitely seemed taller. I read somewhere that she is 5'10" so that should make him taller than that, ie. about 5'11"?! Yeah he could have been standing on a step or something (I admit you can't see their feet) but it sure looked like they were just on level ground...

[edit] Dunst

Speculation, for lack of a better word, keeps being added to this article in regards to Orlando Bloom's relationship with Kirsten Dunst. When going to look up a source I find nothing but gossip rags and this article a half a dozen times. [2] It pretty much states that Dunst herself has denied the relationship. Whether its true or not I don't know nor do I care but until it's been factually reported and can be cited properly please do not add this in again. Thanks! --ImmortalGoddezz 17:33, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
