Legal Name: Kathleene Orla Rubí Villarreal O'Nagten de Streignard was born on September 8th, 1963 in the city of Sp. Orense, in the Province of Orense in the Northwestern autonomous community of Galicia.
Orla (Kathleene) is a Spanish Opera/Pop Singer. Kathleene dropped her first name unofficially after her manager suggested she should, due to the fact that Kathleene was not ethnic enough.
Kathleene Orla Rubi was born to an Irish mother, and a Spanish/Irish father. Orla's mother decided on her name because in Gaelic/Irish Orla means pearl, and her father decided on the name Rubí because both he and his wife were red heads, and so was their daughter, and was a testament to her Spanish background.
Kathleene Orla was no stranger to the good life, her mother owning a string of high class boutiques, and her father owning a fishing company. Orla did not have an easy childhood. With her extreme beauty, she was often teased and physically abused by her female classmates, so her mother decided to hire a private teacher.
Although Orla and her family were extravagantly rich, her father never let her forget that she was no different than any other human. Orla's father did this by driving her around several poor neighbourhoods and introducing her to several impoverished people.
At the age of five Orla was trained in classical opera, and was successful at building an operatic career. At age ten she and her parents moved to Barcelona, so Orla could thoroughly pursue her singing career.
At age 14 Orla met her future husband who was 16. The two were wed that same year. Orla gave birth to triplets at the age of 15. After giving birth Orla's reputation started to change from an Operatic singer, to a Diva-like sex symbol. A few days after her 17th birthday Orla gave birth to a pair of twins. Despite appearing to be pregnant all the time Orla was still viewed as a sex symbol.
Once again at the age of 18 Orla gave birth to her daughter Alessandra Rubi, whom she openly called a work of art. Alessandra Rubi is Orla's most famous child, not only does she almost look identical to her mother, she's a savvy business woman.
Orla took a break from the Opera world after the birth of her daughter Alessandra to pursue a commercial singing career. Her first album topped the charts in Spain, France, and Portugal, giving her fame, and even more money than she already had.
Orla completed three more commercial albums, retired, and moved to the US with her family.
Orla did visit her home country of Spain very often, and made several appearances up until the summer of 2003 when she committed suicide.
Orla was dubbed the Norma Jean Baker/Marilyn Monroe of Spain.
