Talk:Orientation (housing)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hmm.
This reads like a high-school essay, but it covers an important topic that does not seem to be addressed anywhere else in Wikipedia. But then, housing orientation is important here in Australia (where — hint, hint — the midday sun is in the North, not the South).
This topic could be covered in the Green building or Environmental design articles, but probably would fit better in a separate article. A better name would be good. The architects I know were taught about sun angles and so on; what do they call this subject?

I qualified the advice on housing orientation in line with Chris's hint! I've added categories and basic links, but this certainly needs copy edit to change tone from that of an essay. I'm reluctant to sink time into this until we've found the correct home for this article. I suspect merging into some more general article on energy efficiency and houses, but I'm just not sure where.

It turns out that Wikipedia does have an article on this topic: Passive solar. See also Passive house. (I've added links to both those articles to the Green building article (but not Environmental design, which is a higher level article). Some of these building-related probably need more interlinking (see Wikipedia:Build the web), but I'm not going to do any more tonight.) So I suggest this article be sent to the great bit-bucket in the sky. — Chris Chittleborough 14:40, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
