Organ scholar

An organ scholar is a young man or woman who is employed as a part-time assistant organist in a cathedral or collegiate church. As organ scholar is usually a university student or young person preparing to enter university. The idea of an organ scholarship is to provide the holder with playing, directing and administrative experience.
Many organ scholars have gone on to notable careers in music and in other fields. Famous ex-organ scholars include Edward Heath and Dudley Moore.
