Ore, Sussex
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ore, a former village, is now part of the urban area of the town of Hastings in East Sussex. It is located to the north-east of the town, on the main road to Ashford, Kent (the A259 road).
The parish church is dedicated to St Helen and was built in 1868; its predecessor, an ancient church, now stands in ruins nearby. There are also a second Anglican church (Christ Church), a Seventh-day Adventist Church and a Methodist church. Hastings Cemetery is located in Ore. Ore also contains a small shopping centre and the Hillcrest school and community centre.
Ore railway station lies on the Marsh Link Line; here too is the maintenance depot for the trains from London and the coast (via the East Coastway Line and Hastings Line).
