Note the 'Proposed Deletion' template on the main page. I personally could see this one going either way, it is a common way to reference exponents, but it is vary similar to the two pages which User:Grubber mentioned. I'm not going to vote either way, but accept concensus. In the event that this content gets deleted, I'd like to redirect or disambiguate to one or both of the said articles. 48v 20:36, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- I think adding a link on order to direct to degree of a polynomial would certainly be appropriate. I would suggest that since no one is going to ever type "order (algebra)", that there is no need for a redirect; the entry on the disambig page should be sufficient. I do like what you have done on this page, and I think it'd be great if you brought some of what you wrote over onto the degree page. I can submit a PROD, but I wanted to hear from a couple others (and you 48v! your opinion matters too!) first. - grubber 00:39, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

- I'm about to leave, so I can't do it right now, but I am happy to merge the examples on this page into the ones on dergree later this evening (PST). I think that between the two sets we actually explain most cases in which degree is used. As for the disambiguation/redirect, point taken. I'm not sure why I thought a redirect was apropriate earlier. Once that merge is done, I think that deletion and the adition of a link to degree of a polynomial into the disambiguation page would be prudent. 48v 01:14, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

- Sounds good man! Welcome to Wikipedia! I wonder if it is necessary to put this up for AfD. I would think there's not much conflict here, so you could delete it straight out once you've done the merging you'd like to do. I'll leave it up to you! Take care! - grubber 06:09, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

- Stopping by the computer to say two things to say: #1, I'm sorry but plans have changed and I can't merge tonight, however I welcome anyone else to do it or I will tommorow. Secondly, I dont think AfD is necessary as there does not seem to be any controversy yet. My only request is to please wait untill the examples have been extracted befor deleting this article. Appologies for the timing, 48v 06:50, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

- Alright, the merge is complete and this article is ready for deletion. I'm relatively new here so I don't know if the next step is another proposed deletion or if we are expected to go to AfD. Is there perhaps a quicker way since we seem to already have consesus? If someone who knows the answer could please take the next step I'd appriciate it very much. 48v 19:41, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
