[edit] Synopsis
Still not completely sure that the Avatars mean well, Piper agrees to switch powers with Phoebe so that she too can see Phoebe's premonition of a utopian world. During the spell, Zankou, the most powerful demon in the underworld, senses the girls' vulnerability and attacks them, accidentally transferring their powers to innocent bystanders, who run amok with their new abilities. Meanwhile, Brody's desire to kill Leo and the Avatars prompts Paige to take Brody on a journey back to his childhood when his parents were killed so that he can learn the truth. Finally, the Elders learn Leo's new identity.

[edit] Enemies
- Zankou: A powerful demon who was an enemy of The Source of All Evil. The Source incarcerated him out of fear, most likely because Zankou was a demon that could match the Source in strength. After the Source died for good and the threat from the Avatars neared, a group of demons freed him. He had the power to shoot waves of powerful energy, can regenerate when harmed, throw energy balls, shapeshift, sense things in ways no one else can, teleport in several ways, read and scan minds telepathically, has many demonic powers (like the Source), and can absorb the powers of whoever he kills as well as many more. He is intelligent and, unlike most demons, is more concerned with survival than a foolhardy ambition to fight the war between good and evil. Zankou attempts to gain control over the Shadow in the Nexus in order to get full control of the Book of Shadows and turn it evil. Zankou was vanquished when the Charmed Ones recited the spell to destroy the Nexus while its Shadow was inside him.
[edit] Neutral beings
- Avatars: Avatars first appeared in the Season five episode Sam I Am and returned in Centennial Charmed (The one hundredth Episode). They wanted Cole Turner to become an Avatar, but it was too late when Cole was vanquished. They recently became major recurring characters. After they achieved their goal of getting the Charmed Ones and Leo to help get the world to become a "Utopia" where they dictate everything that happens, they were soon forced to give up this world when the Charmed Ones (the greatest force of good) and Zankou (the leader of the demons) realized their plan and threatened them with death. They are indirectly to blame for the deaths of Cole Turner and Kyle Brody.
[edit] Spells
- Power Switching Spell: What's mine is yours, what's yours is mine. Let our powers cross the line. I offer up my gift to share, switch our powers through the air.

[edit] Trivia
- This episode title is a play on words to the film Ordinary People.
- Piper previously used the Power Switching Spell in the episode Love Hurts to heal a dying Leo (the spell also affected Prue and Phoebe.) However, in this episode the line Let our powers cross the line has been omitted.
- Kyle discovers that the Avatars didn't kill his parents, but that they were actually killed by Celerity Demons.
- Foreshadowing - when Piper and Paige are searching for a spell to switch powers they lift up a couple pages and on one there is the picture of one of the demons that killed Kyle's parents.
- In the episodes Astral Monkey and Primrose Empath it was shown that any being that possesses a power they did not develop on their own slowly goes insane. This did not happen in this episode. However, the mortals who assumed the sisters' powers only had them for a few hours. (This is because in Astral Monkey, their blood was injected and it was a mixture of all three sisters.)
- Kyle says that his favorite children's story is called The Mummy's Curse. This is similar to an alternate title The WB used for the episode Y Tu Mummy Tambien.
- The neighbors who captured the Charmed Ones' powers made it from San Francisco to Lake Tahoe within a time that is physically impossible.
- Piper and Phoebe are frozen, but witches couldn't be frozen. This also happens in "That '70s Episode."
