Orange Slovensko is a member of the global communications group Orange. The Orange Group operates in 19 countries of the world and currently serves almost 44 million customers. Orange owns majority shares in France, Great Britain, Belgium, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Romania, Denmark, Slovakia, Ivory Coast, Dominican Republic, Cameroon, Botswana and Madagascar. It holds minority shares in Portugal, Austria, Thailand, Egypt, Poland and Lebanon. The majority owner of Orange SA is the French telecommunications company France Telecom.

Orange Slovensko is a mobile telecommunication company operating in Slovakia since 15th January 1997 (previously named Globtel), when became the first mobile operator in Slovakia to operate the GSM digital mobile network at the 900 MHz frequency. On 15 November 1999, company launched the commercial operation of the mobile network in the 1800 MHz frequency band.

Since 27th March 2002, the operator providing services under the Orange brand name and from this date company's business name is Orange Slovensko, a.s.

The company operates a countrywide network covering 99% of the population and more than 2,000,000 active customers.

Orange SA, whose majority owner is France Telecom, owns a 64% stake in Orange Slovensko. Private financial investors and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development own the remaining shares of Orange Slovensko.
