[edit] Bio

The band was formed in 1995 under the name Our Haunted Kingdom and is still active. Their first three albums were Stoner/Doom Metal, though on 2004's Thieving From the House of God they moved on to a more aggressive, punk-influenced sound. The band have a somewhat cult status in the UK doom metal underground, where they share status alongside legends such as Electric Wizard and Iron Monkey.

Orange Goblin's first five releases were issued by England's Rise Above Records; as of late 2005, the band was currently without a record label contract, but reportedly working on new material. On December 16, 2005, the band celebrated its tenth anniversary with a concert at the Underworld club in Camden, England, also featuring Scissorfight and Blood Island Raiders.

Rhythm guitarist Pete O'Malley left the band in 2004.

The most recent news is that Orange Goblin has signed a new record deal with Sanctuary Records. They will release the new album in May 2007.

Orange Goblin's Ben Ward will go into the studio this week to record a vocal track for the new Middian album, which is due out in April 2007. Middian is the new project of Mike from YOB and is one of the most hotly anticipated metal releases of next year. Ben will appear on the track "Sink to the Centre".

Writing for the new Orange Goblin album, scheduled for release in May 2007 is well underway with four tracks finished and lots of ideas coming together. The band says that the next record will definitely be a progression from Thieving... and are using their local history as a theme. Ben Ward said "It's not a concept album at all, but we are using the theme of the Great Plague of London and the Great Fire that followed for a lot of lyrical and musical influence. It's definitely the strongest material we have written". A few people will have heard a couple of new songs that have been played in the recent live set and the band are currently drawing up a short list of potential producers and studios.
