The wilaya of Oran (31) (Wahran in Arabic) is an administrative division of Algeria whose seat is the city of the same name, located in the north west of the country. Its population is 1,213,839 and it covers a total area of 2,114 km². The wilaya is bordered to the east by the wilaya of Mostaganem, to the south east by Muascar, to the south west by Sidi Bel Abbes and to the west by Aïn Témouchent.
The wilaya was formed from the former French département of Oran, which survived Independence and was transformed into a wilaya by the ordnance of 1968. It got its current shape after the reorganisation of 1974, when it lost territories to the newly formed wilaya of Sidi-Bel-Abbès.
Since 1984, the wilaya has been divided into nine daïras and 26 communes :
- Oran : commune of Oran
- Ain El Turck : communes of Ain El Turck, Mers el Kébir, Bousfer, and El Ançor
- Arzew : communes of Arzew and Sidi Benyebka
- Bethioua : communes of Bethioua, Ain El Bya and Mers El Hadjaj
