Talk:Optimal diet

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The article presents this diet as a remedy for everything. The crital part of the article is definitely too small - not presenting the real scientific critism of the diet and it uses non-neutral terms like "orthodox medicine". What it is "orthodox medicine" ?. The article is also very poorly referenced. In fact the only 3 references points to strong "pro-diet" activists, and there are no more neutral or scientific references Also, the name of the diet is not NPOV itself. I think everyone, who has fixation about his/her diet may call it "optimal", so the Optimal diet article should rather point to article healthy diet or be a disambig with a list of all diets who someone think is optimal.

Reply: I have presented the diet as it is outlined in two books by Jan Kwasniewski, it is not necessarily MY personal view. Not every article should have a "balanced view" in so far as they represent a religious system or the belief of a certain individual. I don't think anyone would add a "the neutrality of this article is disputed" to an article about Christianity, even though its ideas certainly cannot be proved scientifically. Neither should an article that explained Adolf Hitler's views about Jews as outlined in "Mein Kampf" be seen as biased. My aim was to write an article about "the Optimal diet" as it is seen by its founder Jan Kwasniewski and its followers. Using two books (totally 400-500 pages) plus two articles should be sufficient for references in this sense. "Non neutral terms like "orthodox medicine"? In the article on wikipedia about "alternative medicine" it is claimed (based on a recent study) that 1/3 of americans have used some sort of alternative medicine for the past 12 months. This is an example that it is valid to separate "orthodox" from "alternative" medicine. I agree however, that the "criticism" part should be expanded significantly. In fact the whole article need to be cleaned up due to poor language. I may suggest that "the neutrality of this article"-box is temporarily moved into the "criticism"-section, and the article retitled to "Jan Kwasniewski's Optimal Diet".

But it is one side view only, and moreover the other side view is depreciated by calling it "orthodox medicine". Neutral Point of View means that "All Wikipedia articles and other user-facing content must be written from a neutral point of view, representing views fairly, proportionately and without bias." This article is obviously biased by one point of view only, and depreciating the other one. 217.113.225.24 18:36, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
