OPGW

OPGW or Optical Fiber Composite Overhead Ground Wire
- The optical fiber itself is an insulator and protects against power transmission line and lightning induction, external noise and cross-talk.
- Optical fibers are of low transmission loss, allowing long distance transmission.
- Wide-bandwidth transmission capacity of the optical fibers allows high-speed transmission of large volume of information through a single fiber.
- Small size and light weight of optical fiber makes OPGW as compact in size and light in weight as conventional ground wire.
Between optical sources and optical receivers (APD,PIN photo diode) OPGW is the protection medium.
