Talk:Opel Speedster

Should this page be scrapped and linked to the more extensive information on the VX220 page? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Meio (talk • contribs) 10:37, 3 May 2006.
- It's common for Vauxhall models and Opel models to be named like General Motors Astra. This may be a special case because it seems to have been a Vauxhall (Vauxhall VX220) first and an Opel (Opel Speedster) second, which is unusual and presumably because of the Lotus connection. Strictly, though, they should probably both be sub-sections of the Lotus Elise page! – Kieran T (talk | contribs) 23:46, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- I put them (VX220, Speedster) up for merging. It's the same car, after all.--85.224.87.241 10:02, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The picture.
Hey, I've just noticed that's picture's a bit odd. Yes, it illustrates the article perfectly, but it's actually an Opel Speedster badged as a Vauxhall.
I'll change the caption, and maybe see if I can get a couple of snaps of the one at work. It would also be nice if the VXR220 got a mention, as it was indeed a Vauxhall only-model, there was no OPC220 (doesn't sound that good, does it?) Abarthaddict 13:30, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- Good call on spotting the picture. I've updated the caption a bit to include an internal link and explain why the picture's valid here before somebody trigger-happy removes it ;)
- Not sure about "it would also be nice if the VXR220 got a mention", though, because the VX220 gets a mention, and there's a link to its article, which is where the VXR should probably go, to avoid over-duplication. Unless of course we just combine the Opel and Vauxhall articles completely? – Kieran T (talk | contribs) 16:35, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- : Cheers! - although I'm somewhat afraid that being able to spot the difference between a VX220 and a Speedster with the wrong badge on makes me a right anorak. I also seem to have temporarily forgotten that this was indeed the Opel article, not the VX. Nah - I don't think it'd be right to combine Vauxhall/Opel articles. There are many very subtle differences, ones that would eventually take up the whole article to point out.Abarthaddict 13:30, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
This should most definately be merged with the Vauxhall listing.
The car was designed and conceived as a Vauxhall and even though there are differences between the models there is no seperate listing for the current Vauxhall Vectra/Opel Vercta even though there are equally subtle differences there.
[edit] wait
- I am a car inthusist (also a bad speller) so I think even if it's the same car under a differnt name;if the article is titled Opel speedster the picture should be an opel.GuyDoe 19:53, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
