Operation Rosario

Operation Rosario was the name given to the Argentine invasion of the Falkland Islands on the morning of 2 April 1982; the first event in the Falklands War.
The colonial governor and the small garrison were forced to surrender within hours of the initial landings. The British government under Margaret Thatcher launched a massive expedition (Operation Corporate) which regained control of the colony seventy-four days later.
