Operation Lightning

After the handover of sovereignty, Operation Lightning was a major combined Iraqi/American counterinsurgency cordon-and-search operation announced on May 26, 2005. Iraqi security units established over 400 checkpoints throughout the city.
It followed Operation New Market and was followed by Operation Spear.
There is also a Metropolitan (London) Police Anti Terrorist Policy by the name of Operation Lightning.
