OpenPBX by Voicetronix
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
OpenPBX is an open source software PBX by Australian telephony hardware vendor Voicetronix. Due to a similarity in name, it is often confused with the vendor independent and otherwise unrelated OpenPBX.org project. OpenPBX is a fully featured PBX software, suitable for small offices but can scale to larger call centres. It has a web based GUI for configuration and management and it supports many telehony features such as 3-way call conferencing, voicemail, voicemail-to-email, auto-attendant, automatic call distribution (ACD), least cost call routing (LCR), music on hold (MOH), generation of call detail records (CDR), huntgroups, call transfer, call parking and call barring.
Unlike most other open source PBX software, OpenPBX is not an IP-PBX. It supports analog and digital telephony using Voicetronix' own PCI interface cards, but it does not support voice over IP. The driver software required to use these interface cards is only available for Linux which thereby limits the use of OpenPBX to Linux systems.
OpenPBX is entirely written in Perl. Voicetronix states that the code base is very compact (ca. 1000 lines of Perl for basic PBX functionality) and therefore easy to customise.
