OpenMFG
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
OpenMFG is an open source-powered Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) package for small to midsized manufacturing and distribution companies. It is built with the PostgreSQL open source database and the Qt open source framework for C++, so both the client and the server run on Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.
OpenMFG employs a hybrid licensing strategy. While it is not free software, all customers and partners receive the full application source code, and enhancements and bug fixes are regularly brought into the main, supported product. The product is in its fourth major release, with hundreds of enhancements contributed by partners and customers.
Functionally, OpenMFG hides a great deal of sophisticated ERP power under a clean, simple interface. It includes Inventory Management (including multi-location, multi-warehouse support and a full Physical Inventory subsystem), Product Definition (including Bills of Material and Bills of Operation), Manufacturing Scheduling (including Material Requirements Planning and Master Production Schedule), Capacity Planning (infinite load only), Work Orders, Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, Sales Analysis, Project Management, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and full financials: Accounts Payable, Receivable, and General Ledger. It also includes the OpenRPT report writer, which is available as a separate, fully open source project on SourceForge.
The company publishes pricing for its products, including an online calculator, at http://www.openmfg.com/pricing, and its online community (including fully public bug tracking, docs, mail lists, forums, blogs, wikis, etc.) can be found at http://www.openmfg.org.
