OpenLab GNU/Linux is a GNU/Linux distribution from South Africa, created by OpenLab International. OpenLab is based in Benoni, South Africa. It is a binary compatible derivative of Slackware, but follows a different design philosophy.

The distribution originally focused particularly on the education market, especially thin client systems, but has since evolved to cater for desktop, power and server users alike. OpenLab currently runs in hundreds of schools in Africa [1] and in other schools as well.

OpenLab's desktop is based on KDE with a custom theme and the Nuvola icon set. The default office suite is OpenOffice.org.
