Talk:Online database

[edit] a start

I found it unbelievable that WP did not have such an article. I leave it up to those more specifically involved in the topic whether to mark this as a disambiguation page, or whether to expand the article. The list of types of online databases is of course intended to be expanded, but I await suggestions of how to deal with this term.
Other articles for other types of online databases than bibiographic ones are either already written by others, or, for those relevant to an academic/library setting, are being written. DGG 04:38, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] internet

I'm not sure you are right. I was using dialog and other online database on dial up or other primitive connections long before there was a presence on the internet. There are 100s of local systems, if not hundreds of thousands. But I am not in the least happy with my own definition. perhaps you can help me improve it in an inclusive way. To me, it basically means any database not queried in batch mode, but I'd like to word it more positively. DGG 06:28, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
