Oniniwa Tsunamoto
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Oniniwa Tsunamoto (鬼庭綱元?) (1549-1640) was an elite officer under the Japanese clan of Date during the later years of the Sengoku period (16th century) of Japan. Oniniwa is more commonly pronounced Oniwa or Moniwa, and Oniwa family are regarded as the ancestry of Moniwa (茂庭) clan.
Tsunamoto was known as one of the "Three Distinguished Dates", together with Katakura Kojuro, and Date Shigezane. When Toyotomi Hideyoshi blamed Tsunamoto's lord, Date Masamune for a riot in Ōshū, Tsunamoto was quick to defend his innocence.
