Onefootball
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
OneFootball.com was a website for football (soccer) information for over 10 leagues. It included club owner information, latest news and rumours, a discussion board, an 'Ask the Ref' section and well known columnists.
It was owned by sports website firm Sportsio, after their takeover of One Sport. Sportsio filed for bankruptcy in July 2002, and the Onefootball site was liquidated soon after. Fans of the site have since created their own site, footballrefugees.com.
Word was spread on the dead onefootball site that the forum was alive and kicking in its new home, and people trickled through.Soon after starting the site (many thanks to Bubby & Myles for setting it up) , and it becoming popular with the regulars from the old site, a poll was run to decide the new name, thus, the name footballrefugees.com was born. After a good few years URL footballrefugees.com has ceased to exist and Football Refugees have moved to a new home at footballrefugees.freephpnuke.org on 10.10.2006.
It was, and still is, the intention to run it as a non-profit, democratic site purely for people with a common interest in football. People are free to come and go, as long as everyone is treated with respect.
