One for the Road (short story)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is the title of a short story written by Stephen King and published in his Night Shift collection. Like some of King's other stories, it overlaps into the mythos surrounding ’Salem’s Lot.
This tale is told from the perspective of an old man, a resident of a small New England town that neighbors ’Salem’s Lot. He details the events that took place one winter's night years ago, during a ferocious snowstorm, when he and his friend, "Took", attempted to rescue the family of a stranded motorist. Instead, they barely manage to save themselves from the man's wife and daughter, who had been turned into vampires.
