One Woodward Avenue

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

One Woodward Avenue is the name of a building in Detroit, Michigan. It overlooks Hart Plaza, Cobo Hall, and the Detroit River.

It was built in 1962 and stands at 26 storeys. The tower was built by Minoru Yamasaki (who later designed the now-destroyed World Trade Center in New York City, New York).

At night, the large "cube" at the top is lit up with large floodlights, color-coded with seasonal events. Near Christmas, it is lit green, red, and white; in the summer, around the U.S. Independence Day, it is red, white and blue; and it is silver-gold prior to the U.S. Thanksgiving celebration in November.
